South East Asia

South East Asia, a region where I come from, in which I have a domicile in Kuala Lumpur, the capital of Malaysia. Upon my graduation from National University of Singapore, I started working in Singapore, a city-state where I call it my second home.

South East Asia is an exciting and relatively young region, which it has attracted the eyes of the world with its fast growing economy, especially before the 1997 Asian Crisis. The affected nations including Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam, Philippines, Singapore and Malaysia are now back on the right track to enjoy the economic boom with their bountiful natural resources and rapid urbanisation.

The region can be divided into two distinct areas. Mainland South East Asia includes Thailand, Laos, Myanmar, Cambodia and Vietnam - a region corresponding to the older "Indo-China", while insular South East Asia includes Malaysia, Brunei, Singapore, and the island nations of Indonesia, and the Philippines.

The region has been a fixture on the backpacker circuit for as long as there have been backpackers - this is the place where I started as a backpacker too. In here, you can always find remote, beautiful corners - notably in Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam, the Philippines, Malaysia, and Indonesia - to satisfy your most adventurous itinerary!
